Review by Michelle Curry

Tom Rush's self-titled album is a testament to his exceptional songwriting and musicianship. The album features a mix of original songs and covers, all delivered with his signature style and soulful voice.

The opening track, "Driving Wheel," sets the tone for the album with its bluesy groove and catchy lyrics. Rush's cover of Joni Mitchell's "Urge for Going" is a standout, showcasing his ability to interpret a classic song in his own unique way.

The album also features several of Rush's own compositions, including the hauntingly beautiful "No Regrets" and the upbeat "Merrimack County." His songwriting shines through on these tracks, demonstrating his ability to craft songs that are both introspective and relatable.

folk and country with immaculate fingerpicking and beautiful dialogue with banjo, dobro and mandolins. traditional but never boring, then his voice is truly above standards. I am bored only by the final spoken word "panama limited", but his versions of "do re mi" "milk cow blues" "windy bill" and "long john" are among the best in the whole folk scene.
